Cornell-Yonsei Debate Invitational
Greetings! Yonsei Underwood Union and Cornell Speech & Debate Society along with Debate Korea are proud to present to you the Cornell-Yonsei Debate Invitational 2019! For those of you who ever dreamed of competing against and winning over Korea’s most highly-qualified debaters, this is where you can push it to the farthest of your limits as a debater. Our mission is to facilitate high-level debating, acknowledge the accomplishments of the debaters, and contribute to the improvement of the participants’ debating skills. The tournament will be an excellent chance for the competitors to hone their proficiency and skills also by looking up to the high school debaters who have already walked their paths, since the tournament will be run simultaneously with the middle school division.
The three-day tournament will be held in Asian Parliamentary debate format with six preliminary rounds and elimination rounds beginning with quarterfinals. The middle school invitational will also have workshops led by the internationally recognized experts of the Chief Adjudication Panel and Workshop Directors held two days before the tournament. Cornell-Yonsei hopes to facilitate high-level debating, acknowledge the accomplishments of the debaters, and contribute to the improvement of the participants’ debating skills.
This year’s invitational promises to be an invaluable experience for any middle school debater interested in improving their debate skills, networking with like-minded individuals, and expanding their perspective of the competitive debate world. We of the Cornell-Yonsei Debate Invitational are looking forward to hosting a tournament of this caliber and wish all teams the best of luck!
